I am blogging live from Lakeview Campground in Maypearl, TX, at the 2008 North Texas Junior Leadership Training Academy (NTX JLTA), where staff have been working since 8:00 this morning to get the camp ready for the boys to start arriving Sunday afternoon. Things are coming together and we are looking forward to having a great time at this years JLTA. We have boys from all across the district that will be attending different leadership camps this week ranging from Discovery Rangers through Expedition Rangers attending camps such as DTC, ATC, FBC, JTC, and AJTC [AMC was canceled due to low numbers]. These boys will have the opportunity to not only develop leadership skills while working together as a patrol, but also work on merits that tie into the objectives of their respective camps. (more…)

North Texas Junior Leadership Training Academy

The dates for the 2008 North Texas Junior Leadership Training Academy are quickly approaching. For the last 20 years North Texas has offered the Sarge Training Academy. This year we have changed some of the camps, and have changed the overall Academy name, but the fun, training, fellowship, and spiritual emphasis that were hallmarks of the Sarge Training Academy will all be present in this year’s JLTA. North Texas Commanders Conference
May 17, 2008 - Bethel Church in Temple

Our annual Commanders Conference will be held at Bethel Church in Temple, TX on May 17. This year we are joining our Commanders Conference with a Children’s Ministries divisional training day, so there will be workshops throughout the day for Girl’s Ministries leaders and Children’s Ministries leaders as well as Royal Rangers commanders. So if your spouse is involved in one of these other ministries, plan on coming together to this training day. (more…)

The Medical Release Form that was inclued in the previous post (South Ft. Worth ER Campout) is not the form needed for participating in the paintball activity at the district Lakeview campground.  Included in this post (as well as updated in the previous post) is the link for the correct Paintball Waiver^[1] form that must be filled out by each individual prior to being able to take part in the paintball activity.

The South Ft. Worth Section is planning an ER campout May 23-24, 2008. They are opening this event up to Expedition Rangers in the entire district. This campout will be held at Lakeview. From 9:00-11:00 AM, boys will have the opportunity to participate on the district paintball course. From 1:00-3:00 PM, boys will be able to have fun on the district water slides. We will be camping and eating our meals on the Rangers side. (more…)

Deadline for Commanders Award Applications

The deadline for submitting your application for your commander’s award – Outpost Commander’s Award, Outpost Leader’s Service Award, Senior Commander’s Award, Junior Leader’s Service Award, and Pastor’s Award – is March 15. If you haven’t already made plans to attend the Waco Section Round-Up, you should start considering soon. Round-Up this year is being held in Meridian, Texas, March 28-30. The pre-registration deadline is March 6 (meaning your pre-registrations must be postmarked by March 6). The cost for Round-Up is $30. However, if your church is chartered for the 2007-2008 charter, then you will receive a $5 discount per person, resulting in a registration fee of $25. This includes insurance, a patch, Round-Up T-shirt, park entrance fee, nature hike, Friday dinner, Saturday lunch, Saturday evening hot cocoa and marshmallow roast, and more. (more…)

I just contacted the national Royal Rangers office and negotiated an extension in the registration deadline for the Ranger Kids Training Conference (RKTC) that will be held in North Texas. The new registration deadline is March 10.

However, if you want the pre-registration discount of $25, your application still needs to be postmarked by this Friday, February 29. Applications are available from the national Royal Rangers web site at http://royalrangers.ag.org/training/registration/index.cfm (more…)

Greetings North Texas!

There have been some questions asked about the Brush Poppin’ next weekend regarding the invitation extended to all Royal Rangers whether you are FCF members or not, young or old… you are all welcome. The cost of non-members to attend will be $7 each. There will be a place for modern camping. There will be signs up to help you get to the camp area when you get close.
