Sarge 2007 is now finished. 100 boys and 47 staff participated in this 20th anniversary version of the Sarge Training Academy. Five camps were held this year: Discovery Adventure Camp (DAC), Frontier Brigade Camp (FBC), Advanced Merits Camp (AMC), Junior Training Camp (JTC), and Advanced Junior Training Camp (AJTC). For the most part the weather cooperated and the boys learned a lot about Royal Rangers through their camp. The staff is already talking about next year’s Academy which promises to be even bigger with more camp options for boys.
Special thanks to Jeff Kersey for his efforts in providing the overall coordination for Sarge. It wouldn’t have happened without him. And Pat Reilly stepped in this year as the assistant Academy director and provided much needed support. Thank you to both Jeff and Pat for making Sarge 2007 successful!
At the graduation ceremony Friday night we took time to pay tribute to the 20 years of the Sarge Training Academy. Commemorative plaques were given to five leaders who helped establish Sarge in 1987 and who participated in the Academy all, or almost all, of the years since: Paul Patterson, Dwain Klopfenstein, Bill Eoff, Jack Woods, and Wayne Word. Special thanks to you commanders for your vision to help establish this Academy and your dedication to the boys to participate in the Academy throughout the 20 years of the Sarge Training Academy.
