The Waco Section is going to be holding a Discovery Training Camp (DTC) on September 28-29, 2007, at First Assembly of God in Waco. This camp is open to any boy that is at least 8 years of age and in Discovery Rangers. DTC is a national junior training camp for boys. This training camp will teach your boys basic leadership skills and how to work in a patrol. This camp should not be confused with the DAC camp that North Texas has offered as part of Sarge Training Academy. For those boys that compete in Ranger of the Year (ROTY), DTC is worth 20 points on the ROTY application. This camp is open to any Discovery Ranger in the district that wishes to come. We will be capping attendance to the first 40 boys. The registration cutoff is two weeks before the camp. This allows the camp staff to make final preparations and ensure that we will have all the materials that we need to make this a successful camp. The cost is $40 per boy. The $40 includes the DTC hat, 2 DTC patches, insurance, meals, trainee notebook, and materials. This will be the last year that the DTC will be offered at the sectional level. Starting in 2008, at the NTX JLTA, DTC will be replacing DAC. We encourage any commander that served on DAC staff in 2007 to contact David Trower and make plans to participate in this DTC.

If a commander wishes to come and stay with their boys for the duration of the camp, they are more than welcome to. The DTC guidelines, state that commanders can go through DTC with their boys and become a graduate of DTC. We ask that commanders fill out the 2007 DTC Adult Application and the cost is $40 for commanders. If your boys are interested in attending, please have them fill out the 2007 DTC Application. A parent/legal guardian’s signature is required for a boy to attend DTC. The pastor’s signature is required for commander’s staying on-site.
