Just a reminder that we have a work day scheduled for Lakeview this Saturday. This may conflict with some previously scheduled sectional event — we don’t intend for you to skip sectional events to come to this work day. But if you can come out and help, that would be great. We are going to be working on the lodge — building a closet that FCF raised the funds for. We have some plumbing that needs work, and we have some painting that needs done. We will also be clearing brush and making some improvements for Pow Wow. So we need carpenters, plumbers, painters, and other skilled craftsmen, as well as folks like me who can help clear brush, clean up, etc. We could also use a small engine mechanic to work on some of our equipment. Bring your tools, chain saws, gloves, etc. and join in making our camp even better.
You and your outpost are welcome to come and camp out Friday night. If you are coming out by yourself, we have lodging available in the Ollie Henley Lodge.
Here’s some answers to a few questions that folks have asked about the Work Day this weekend at Lakeview Camp:
Start time — some folks will be coming in on Friday, especially the carpenters working on the big project on the lodge. Others are coming in Friday night to camp so they can be ready to start Saturday morning. Outposts can camp out, and showers/rest rooms will be open for them. If you can come out Friday and help, that would be great. But if you can’t come until Saturday morning, that’s great too.
Food — yes, food will be provided for those who are working. Saturday breakfast and lunch are the big meals we are planning on, but we will take care of those working at other times too.
Will there be another work day before Pow Wow? No. The district staff looked at the calendar and this weekend is the only date we could schedule that didn’t conflict with something else. The folks from Lakeview Camp are doing a fantastic job keeping our camp mowed and looking great. Thus most of the camping areas will be ready to go for Pow Wow with little or no further work.
