What is it?
NTX JLTA is the North Texas District Junior Leadership Training Academy. This is the boy’s camp we are doing this summer instead of our previous Sarge Sellers Training Academy. We will have all the same camps plus some new camp opportunities for the boys.
JTT – Junior Training Trails – Gary Bierschwale Camp Commander
AJTC – Advanced Junior Training Camp – Martin Smith Camp Commander
JTC – Junior Training Camp – Dick Harris Camp Commander
MAC – Merit Adventure Camp – David Kohn Camp Commander
FBC – Frontier Brigade Camp – Jeff Kersey Camp Commander
ATC – Adventure Training Camp – Gene Chambers Camp Commander
DTC – Discovery Training Camp – Tim Avrit Camp Commander
All of the camps, except MAC, have a 1 ½ to 3 ½ day schedule that covers age appropriate camping, personal and spiritual skills and activities. As our camps are 3 ½ to 5 ½ day camps we are adding merits to each camp that the boys will be able to complete.
Each boy in every camp will have an opportunity to complete and take home merits. We have the beginnings of a great staff and are in the process of identifying the remainder of our camp staff. Each camp requires staff of four to ten men. Somewhere you fit in here.
As always these camps don’t work and the boys don’t get the mentoring they need without you. Mark you calendar, put in for your vacation, contact me or one of the camp commanders and let’s get you signed up. DTC and ATC are completely new camps. Lots of opportunities here as we prepare the boys for their GMA and candidates at JTC and the elite of our North Texas District.
MAC should offer the boys merits they do not have an opportunity to complete in their outpost as well as required merits. If your hobby, or passion is one of our over 200 merits speak up. There are some boys out there that would appreciate you sharing your expertise.
