Deadline for Commanders Award Applications

The deadline for submitting your application for your commander’s award – Outpost Commander’s Award, Outpost Leader’s Service Award, Senior Commander’s Award, Junior Leader’s Service Award, and Pastor’s Award – is March 15. A link to the applications and information about the requirements for these awards can be found on the district web site at http://ntd.royalrangers.net/Home/tabid/417/mid/1471/newsid1470/56/language/en-US/Default.aspx

Module Training at Lakeview

We have been holding a series of module training weekends at Lakeview Camp. The final weekend is March 21-22, and we will be offering the following modules: Safety and the Church, Ranger Kids Activities, Discovery/Adventure Rangers Activities, Your Legacy, Senior Commander, and Child and Substance Abuse Prevention. You must pre-register for these modules in order to attend. More details about this training weekend is available at http://ntd.royalrangers.net/Home/tabid/417/mid/1471/newsid1470/55/language/en-US/Default.aspx

Ranger Kids Training Conference (RKTC)

There will be a RKTC held March 29 and April 5 at Lakeview Camp. We already have more than enough people signed up for the camp for the national office to tell us it is a ‘go.’ But there is still room for you. If you work with Ranger Kids, or just wish you knew more about this age group, this conference is for you. Applications and more information can be found on the national web site at http://royalrangers.ag.org/training/registration/index.cfm

North Texas Pow Wow

Pow Wow is the BIG camp we hold each year for our boys. We have lots of fun, exciting activities planned for your boys. I hope you are making plans to bring your entire outpost to the 2008 Pow Wow at Lakeview Camp. The complete Pow Wow packet was sent to every church in North Texas, and to every chartered commander we had in our database at the time of the mailing. If you need a copy, you can download one from the district web site at http://ntd.royalrangers.net/Portals/15/Documents/2008%20Pow%20Wow%20packet.pdf

Remember that the pre-registration deadline for Pow Wow is April 1. After that date the fee goes up.

Frontiersmen Camping Fellowship (FCF)

Last weekend the FCF held their annual Brush Poppin’ trace at Ken Harris’ place near Hillsboro. We had 98 people registered, which is quite an increase from last year. Money was raised to buy new wheels for the FCF cannon, and more money will be going into the Royal Rangers building fund. The next project FCF is raising money for is to expand our storage barn at the camp so they will have a place to store their plunder.

Also at Brush Poppin’ the new Shawnee Trail FCF Operational Guidelines document was unveiled. If you were not at the camp and you would like a copy, you may click on this link to download a PDF of the document: http://ntd.royalrangers.net/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=Kq3R1Vd84E0%3d&tabid=524&language=en-US

The key change in this document is that the FCF president will be appointed from this point in time. Gary Bierschwale has done a great job leading the Shawnee Trail FCF over the last four years, but he does not want to be reappointed. So at the Brush Poppin’ camp last Saturday Art Sullivan was introduced as our new FCF president. Gary’s term ends at the end of Pow Wow, and Art and his new staff will take over the leadership of our chapter at that time.

National Royal Rangers Council

Finally, I ask for your prayers this next week as the district Royal Rangers staff travels to Springfield to attend the National Royal Rangers Council. This year we will be introduced to many new ideas concerning Royal Rangers. So pray for your district staff, and for the national Royal Rangers staff as well. There are exciting times in Royal Rangers ahead of us. We plan on sharing all of this information with commanders in the district at the annual Commanders Conference on May 17 at Bethel Church in Temple.
